Once again, we're planning a day of fun in the sun for the annual Captains v Vice Captains day. Last year we raised a whole bunch of cash for Cystic Fibrosis Trust, this year we'll be doing the same fundraising with the additional aim of raising money for a memorial bench in memory of our good friend, league legend and crap joke extraordinaire Pete Hatch. We'll hold three matches this year, as well as softball there will be some side games, socialising, sun and shenanigans.
Softball games:
1pm - Newbies vs Veterans
3pm - Swiss Tony's Teammates vs Freddies Foes
5pm - Captains v Vice Captains
Side games will include Pitching Pong, Softball SHy, Speedy Bases and Big Stick, plus any more we can think of. Small cost to play, prizes to be won.
For those that don't know...
Pete Hatch was a long standing pillar of the softball world, with heavy involvement in running CSL for as long as we can remember - whether introducing and training newbies, hosting awards nights, providing some legendary fancy dress, upholding rules and settling disputes, or just being around for a good old natter, He was a softballer first and foremost, but also had Cystic Fibrosis. The way he dealt with it was a true inspiration, but sadly Pete eventually lost his battle with CF in January last year and is sorely missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on and so while remembering him, we are also using this day to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. Captains v Vice day was his favourite and he would have made everyone feel most welcome.
